The future, the past, the turning point. WHAT?

For the past two weeks my horoscope has had the same ring to it

Review your past -- it will shed light on the present. You are at a turning point and the decisions you make will be crucial to your future. Set your course in a positive direction by cultivating what you do best. 3 stars

yeah, yeah. Since I haven't worked in 5 months, its true that I'm at a turning point. But what the hell do I do best? And how does one cultivate it? I should go and see a psychic to have this cleared up for me. heh.

I'm starting to gear up for summer and we're planning numerous backpacking and camping trips on the island this year. We're hoping it's a fun-filled outdoor summer. Friends of ours will be here for a week in July and we're hoping to get a campsite off Long Beach for the entire week which should be a blast! I'm looking forward to that! Steve and I have been debating getting a camper for the truck or maybe even a tent trailer. I'm really not a trailer girl but there have been many situations where it would come in ultra-handy, even I have to admit. We'll see, though.

I really do wish I had more interesting things to post.

The purpose of the foot stomp

This past weekend Steve and I, and some of his fellow co-workers, went out to Mount Washington to ski. The company Steve works for had a chalet for the weekend so it was a free place to crash and a chance to get out of town.

It was a family affair, so Friday night we were up there with three families and their kids and one other couple. We stayed up drinking and chatting and laughing it up til about 2 in the morning all the while the kids are asleep in their respective rooms.

Saturday night the families all went home after a day of skiing and 4 other folks showed up making it 8 adults, no kids. We all headed out to the pub for dinner and drinks. I ended up ducking out early and was in bed by about 11:30. Around 1:00 the rest of the gang got in and although they weren't quiet, they weren't exactly the rowdiest bunch ever. I suspect if Steve hadn't come into my room I would have slept through their arrival. Those who know me know that this is saying something.

Well, the people staying upstairs apparently didn't sleep through the coming home or perhaps hadn't even gotten to bed yet and proceeded to stomp on the floor several times. All the drunks took note and went to bed so all was quiet by about 1:30. Not too late on the ski hill for a Saturday night, if you ask me.

The next morning, around 7:00 am I hear this intentional stomping as the people renting the upstairs unit of the chalet stomp from one end of their suite to the other about 3 times.

Ok? What exactly was the point? The drunks are dead asleep and unless you're going to come down and throw cold water on their heads, you won't wake them. Me, on the otherhand, went to bed sober and therefore was rudely awakened. So you successful manage to irritate the only people who had nothing to do with why you were irriated in the first place. Were we suppose to be scared? Seriously, I'd like to know, foot-stompers of the world, what exactly you're trying to accomplish?

Also, if you're that sensitive to the pub crowd coming in relatively late (but I'd argue that 1 in the morning on a Saturday night on the ski hill is truly not that late - if it were 3 in the morning, ok, that's a different story) then why the hell are you renting the top suite of an old, cheap chalet that sleeps 18? Color me crazy, but a chalet that sleeps 18 that was built 35 years ago is just begging for a group to come and party it up. That to me is common sense.

If they had children, I might be able to understand the outrage but it was obvious they did not (we shared a common hallway and children come with an unbelievable amount of crap that is difficult to hide) and the night before we were MUCH louder, MUCH later, with children within close proximity and none of the parents we were with were having issues. There was even a 2 year old with us that wasn't disturbed, and his parents stayed up the latest!

Its like going camping on a long weekend and then being pissed off that other people are there and are having a good time. It's the long weekend, so unless you're willing to buy your own island, you're just going to have deal, or better yet, stay home.

What do you think about me?

New personality test. Pick the words you think of when you think of me.

Johari Window for Amberism

And then I can see if I think of me the way you think of me. Make sense? ;)

I watch WAY too much TV

Last night at about quarter to nine Steve turns to me and says "Turn off the TV, everything on is just crap" to which I replied, "No! CSI is on in 15 minutes and Julie Cooper-Nicol is going to be on it". "uh, Amber, she's on The O.C." "Tonight she's back as the dominatrix on CSI".

oh. my. god. I should have turned off the TV. That was, without a doubt, the most horrific CSI I have ever watched. I spent more time hiding under my blanket than watching the TV and I was up from 3:30 to 6:30 thinking about it.

I haven't been feeling very well the last couple of days, which is a real shame because its been basically summer here during the day. Absolutely gorgeous, sunny and blue skies. I toying with the idea of going outside today and enjoying it for a few hours.
